Home Remedies For Bed Bugs

Bed Bugs Home Remedies

By Mark | Getting Rid of Bed Bugs

When I was battling my bed bug nightmare, I didn’t have enough money to hire a bed bug exterminator, so I was forced to try out various bed bugs home remedies. If you’re going to do this yourself, please use my experiences and suggestions below to make sure that you’re successful the first time. Here’s a full list of home remedies and my experiences with them, but I strongly recommend a combination of dry steaming, mattress cover, and diatomaceous earth (numbers 3, 4, and 6):

As with my post on how to get rid of bed bugs, I’ve listed my two favorite suggestions at the bottom of the page. If I were to ever get bed bugs again, those are the 2 options that I would use as soon as I found the first bed bug.

Moochers Beware – Don’t Take Used Furniture

By Mark | Bed Bug Prevention

It’s often tempting to pick up used furniture that we see on the side of a street. It can save us a lot of money to get furniture for free when even a really cheap bed can cost $100. And many people when they move can’t take some of their furniture (because it doesn’t fit in their new place or because they’re upgrading to newer and better furniture).

That’s why it often seems like a great deal to just pick up that used furniture nobody wants.

Unfortunately, if you’re thinking about doing so (or if you already have done so), then please be aware that there may be bed bugs on the furniture you’re taking into your home! So, what may seem like a great money-saver could end up costing you way more than you bargained for. It can cost a lot of money as well as a ton of headache to get rid of a bed bug infestation. So, it’s usually way better not to risk it. Just fork out the money and buy furniture new if you can.

There have been stories of people and pets ingesting Vaseline for years. In fact, there are myths suggesting that eating Vaseline daily could make you live longer. But, worrying less about bed bugs will probably also lengthen our lifespan. We simply suggest not using Vaseline if you have pets because pets do have a tendency to lick them off thereby destroying your bed bugs detection system.
